Marchelle Wines Opens Its First Tasting Room in the Heart of Healdsburg
After five years of sharing our wines through by-appointment experiences, events and restaurant partners, we’re thrilled to welcome guests to the first-ever Marchelle Wines Tasting Room in downtown Healdsburg.
Located at 34 North Street, just one block from the historic Healdsburg Plaza, our new home represents far more than a place to pour wine. It’s a gathering place where we can share the stories behind California’s historic vineyards, introduce guests to forgotten grape varieties, and create meaningful connections with our community through wine.
A Story That Began with Old Vines
Marchelle was born from a simple idea: some of California’s greatest vineyards—and the people who have cared for them—deserve to be celebrated.
From century-old French Colombard vines planted in 1902 at Betty Ann Vineyard to iconic heritage vineyards like Bechthold, Jessie’s Grove, and van der Kamp, we’ve dedicated ourselves to preserving remarkable sites while crafting small-lot wines that express their unique character.
As The San Francisco Chronicle recently noted, Marchelle has become one of only a handful of California wineries producing serious French Colombard, transforming what was once considered a forgotten grape into our best-selling wine. The article highlights how our new tasting room gives even more people the opportunity to discover this remarkable variety and the stories behind it.
Built Around Community
When the opportunity arose to make Healdsburg our home, we knew it was the right fit.
Rather than creating the flashiest tasting room in town, we envisioned a welcoming space that reflects who we are: authentic, educational, and rooted in the vineyard.
Our tasting room features photographs celebrating heritage vineyards and includes the striking old vine sculpture that has become the centerpiece behind our tasting bar—a fitting reminder of the heritage we’re committed to preserving. As noted in the Chronicle’s feature, every detail of the space reinforces our mission to honor old vines and the people who farm them.

- Our Signature Tasting featuring a selection current release wines
- The Reserve Tasting showcasing our most limited vineyard-designated wines
- A private reserve room for intimate gatherings, business meetings, and special celebrations
But what we’re most excited to share isn’t simply our wines—it’s the knowledge behind them.
Greg La Follette has spent nearly four decades helping shape California Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, mentoring generations of winemakers, and advancing vineyard and fermentation research. Together with winemaker Evan Damiano, he’ll continue hosting educational tastings, seminars, and conversations designed to deepen guests’ appreciation for wine and the remarkable vineyards that produce it.
A New Chapter
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat recently described this tasting room as Greg La Follette’s newest chapter after an extraordinary career in California wine—one focused on sharing knowledge, welcoming guests, and creating a place where great wine and meaningful conversation come together.
For Kevin Lee and Greg La Follette, Marchelle has always been about building something that reflects their shared values: respect for growers, stewardship of historic vineyards, and wines that speak honestly of place.
